The Music Man (1962)

A listener who'll DM the show after the very first episode is usually a hussy. And a listener who'll rate us the second time out is anything but fussy. But a listener, who, on the third time around, sends us a feedback email - that's our shipoopi.
As promised, Amanda and Daniel pick a little and talk a little about the classic musical The Music Man. If we were really good we would have made the episode 76 minutes (1 minute for each trombone) but you'll have to make do with 74.

Like, was it worth putting off the series premiere of The Bachelorette and watching it a day later on Hulu? Find out why we're still talking about Rosebud 70 years after Orson Welles first dropped that snow globe (please clap).

Did you know David Duchovny did a romantic comedy? Your mom knows. In a stunning reversal, Daniel brings an Amanda movie to the table as the pair discuss Return to Me, in which Minnie Driver wears a shower cap and Bonnie Hunt delivers the immortal plot summary: "Grace has Bob's dead wife's heart." High-concept has never been so wholesome.

The Big Lebowski (1998) - Comeback Comedies Part 1
Monday Dec 14, 2020
Monday Dec 14, 2020
Some movies don't make their greatness known right away. Sometimes you may have a bad experience with a movie only to have it stick in your brain somewhere, waiting to be rewatched and reevaluated months or years after the fact. In the first of two slacker comedies they didn't like on first viewing, Daniel and Amanda tackle the cult phenomenon that is The Big Lebowski: an oddball cocktail of character-based comedy, profane poetry, and a plot that is just begging to be explained.
